But before we intensely discuss it, let's find out,

what SEO is?

According to the MOZ,

SEO stands for search engine optimization, a set of practices designed to improve the appearance and positioning of web pages in organic search results. Because organic search is the most prominent way for people to discover and access online content, a good SEO strategy is essential for improving the quality and quantity of traffic to your website.

Why do you, as a developer, need to learn Search Engine Optimization?

I can say that this question is controversial from the view of the developers. Some developers believe knowing the SEO is not necessary. Some others consider knowing essential SEO can help them better to understand how search engines work and how the website can gain more traffic. After having a survey on Twitter, the result comes from 86 people who work as web developers; almost 61.2% of them agree that they need to know the basics of SEO to improve the website.

Knowing SEO can help you gain the trust of users and your client. Building the website is fantastic, but understanding how to show the website on the first page after ads and gain more organic users and visibility is crucial for each website. According to the Website setup, we have 1.7 billion websites that exist, and the number is growing daily. Therefore, you need to improve your website visibility to gain a better ranking and more traffic for conversion rate.

We can divide SEO into on-site and off-site. It is essential to know both of them to increase the traffic and engage with the website. In my opinion, the developer needs to learn first on-site( technical, visibility, etc.). If they desire to learn more, they can move off-site( social media, constancy, etc.)and extend their ability and knowledge of this term.

What is the benefit of knowing SEO?
